Pain with hot or cold that lingers
Sensitivity that keeps aching after the hot or cold is gone may mean the pulp, the soft tissue inside the tooth, is inflamed or infected. Brief sensitivity that fades right away is often less serious. Testing at an exam is needed to know.
Pain when biting or chewing
Sharp pain on biting, especially when you release, may point to a cracked tooth. A dull ache on chewing may mean inflammation around the root tip. An exam, and sometimes 3D imaging, is needed to tell which.
Swelling or a pimple on the gum
Swelling, or a small bump on the gum that may drain, can be a sign of infection at the root of a tooth. It should be looked at promptly, even if it does not hurt.
If swelling is affecting your breathing or swallowing, or spreading toward your eye or neck, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
A tooth treated before that hurts again
A tooth that had a root canal may sometimes not heal as expected, or develop new decay or a crack years later. Root canal retreatment may be able to save it. An exam is needed to know what is going on.
A cracked, chipped, or knocked-out tooth
An injury can affect the nerve even when the tooth looks fine. A knocked-out permanent tooth is time-critical: keep it moist in milk or saliva, not plain water, and call right away.

Dr. Anderson and everyone in his office were wonderful. A caring, painless, and fast experience. He called to check on me. What used to be something to dread was "easy peasey."
Its hard to give a 5 star review for a root canal but Dr. Anderson and his staff were great. Very organized and professional and no pain during the procedure. Good follow up and willing to answer any and all questions.
I was very impressed by the level of care. The staff were kind, friendly and fit me right in when I needed a root canal. They walked me through the process and were quick and courteous. They then also called that evening to make sure I was doing well. I highly recommend Anderson DDS.
A big thank you to Dr. Anderson and his staff. Everything went smoothly and with such a complex procedure where pain is expected, there was really very minimal discomfort. Aside from a brief mild ache post op, I feel fantastic.

After my 11 year old son broke his front tooth while body surfing, Dr. Anderson did a root canal on very short notice. His calm demeanor really helped my son relax, and it's obvious he cares a lot about his patients.
